Your Life Is Over
Your Life Is Over
Despite your best efforts, every day that passes brings you closer to the last day of your life. For some reason, most people find it hard to take seriously this most certain of all events in their life. It is as though, somehow, we think it will all work out in the end, one way or another. The best hope is heaven and the terror is that God is the God of the bible and all will come to pass exactly how it is revealed. It is comfortable to reject God’s existence and believe death for us means non-existence. God graciously grants us freedom to choose how we live and what we believe. Well, that is during our lifetime, but God is in control and you will understand this when your life is over. That, unfortunately will do you no good. NOW is the day of salvation, now is your time to decide and the basis must be the truth. The truth is overwhelming and yet the pull of the world in terms of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life are more than enough to close your mind to the truth.
Most people will manage to live their life’s completely oblivious from their creator, from God, from the God of the bible. Maybe near their end some will call on God, but the scriptures warn us that God will not be fooled. God knows your heart and when it has been hardened, it is unlikely you will change. Pharaoh’s heart was hardened by God as a result of the various plagues God delivered to the Egyptians. Today, people are hardened by the rules God has put in place – the things referred to as sin. The idea of hell defined by God in the scriptures hardens many hearts. Many people are hardened by the apparent harshness of the God of the bible. Others are hardened by the narrowness of God as there is clearly only God’s way in the scriptures. Many people see the God of the scriptures does not accept the liberal ideas they have accepted. All in all God has thus hardened the hearts of the disbelieving and it is simply because they do not understand God, but more often than not, they judge God, or think they do. Unfortunately, as you go down the road of life opposing God, you are building a wall that will be difficult to overcome even when death approaches. The time for your obedience to God is now! God says today is the day of salvation, because you not not know if you have tomorrow. Your service or lack of service to God through His Son in these last days, that is in this last age is known by God. God knows if you are pleasing Him by living your life for His Son or selfishly living it for yourself.
People Choose To Reject God and Always Without Knowledge
There are many reasons why a person does not believe in God and they are pretty obvious, but in every case the person makes a decision to reject God. It might be they have been indoctrinated into a worldly view of God and often that means His non-existence. It might be that in your busied life there is no time for God, no time to learn if there is a god. It might be that the things you want most in life are called sinful by the God of the bible. It might be that some person or persons who believe in God represent those who you do not like or do not want to be like. It might be your family, friends, dearly loved ones all reject God. It might be that you cannot believe that human suffering could exist if there were a loving God. It might be that you have an idea of God and His rejection of certain things important to you does not fit your idea of God. At this time in the world, it seems people are hopeful there is no God and that if there is that He is not the God of the bible. People just want to get all they can and the process they use is often sinful, hurtful to others.
People will make bad choices and for most they do not know the truth, they do not understand God although He has graciously revealed the answers you need and provided the encouragement and the hope you need. You do not think the world is evil, because it is all you know. In choosing “the world” we choose the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. God is very clear that pride comes before destruction and that He resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. The question is the same today as it was in the days Jesus spoke while on earth, namely will you give up all and follow Christ, that is, live for Jesus Christ? It is interesting how Jesus delivered this message and then said, what if you gain all you desire in the world? What is its true value? He answers the question of all you might accomplish by comparing it to your soul.
Mark 8.35,36
35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.
36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?
It is a comparison that is so powerful, because there are the seen things and there are the unseen eternal things and ultimately there is only one valuable thing.
2 Corinthians 4.16-18
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,
18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
That one valuable thing is your unseen, eternal soul.
1 Peter 1.9
9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.
God Reveals Your Appointment with Death and Then What to Expect
Hebrews 9.27
27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,
As far as you are concerned, you die and then you are judged. In other words as far as you are concerned there is nothing in between – your chance to succeed has ended with your death. People may teach other possibilities such as purgatory or the rapture or reincarnation, but God’s revelation is silent about different means to redeem your life. It is as though God in His plan was not able to determine a person’s eternal fate during their lifetime. If you die in your sins there very simply is no hope. You need the truth NOW and the world including the world of religion are not your friends! There is a very singular message from God in the scriptures in relation to death and salvation and God’s wrath are certain.
Romans 1.18-20
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
There are no excuses except for the ones people create for themselves.
Romans 2.5-8
5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,
6 who “will render to each one according to his deeds”:
7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;
8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath,
Throughout the scriptures God makes it clear, His wrath is very real as is eternal life and it is always about your choices – it is God’s way, God’s perfect way. Jesus is God’s perfect way for your salvation, and Jesus tells us He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and the only way to the Father.
One of the many sad things people will come to understand when it is too late is just another thing that God graciously reveals about Himself. If you understand God’s perfection, you can imagine that this would be the case, namely God shows no partiality. To live your life thinking that you might NOT BE a candidate for heaven, is truly sad because you have as much opportunity as anyone else – stand on your own two feet and seek the truth, seek God!
Romans 2.11
11 For there is no partiality with God.
There are Christian (so-called) groups that teach you are predestined and it is not your choice. The scriptures do not teach this, although they use the word predestined, but not in the sense a specific person is predestined. Heaven Coach has many pages that cover this subject very thoroughly. It turns out that what is predestined is God’s plan to save humankind and not specific persons. The closest thing to predestination of a person might be that the character of a person who finds heaven will have certain characteristics – like humility.
God’s Gradual Revelation During the Time The Holy Spirit Guided The Apostles Into All Truth
Peter and others in the first century never knew until God revealed it that the Gentiles were fit subjects for the kingdom. Peter would learn this and then describe what happened and declare God’s impartiality.
Acts 10.34,35
34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.
35 But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.
The clarity of God is before every person and it has always involved obeying God and not obeying the directives of men or women – the directives of the world.
Acts 5.29-32
29 But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.
30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree.
31 Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.
32 And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”
Finally, the revelation of truth was complete and Peter could write:
2 Peter 1.2,3
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness
Jude also makes this clear:
Jude 1.3
3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.
God’s gradual revelation would be complete and both since we had all things that pertain to life and godliness and the faith was once for all delivered to the saints. It was during the first century that God used various miracles and gifts to confirm the truth and these things were not complete, but in part. God makes this clear in the first letter to the Corinthians as Paul would teach.
1 Corinthians 13.8-10
8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
Finally, when the revelation was complete, we would have that which is perfect, God’s word. It would no longer be a mystery, but God has revealed all that humankind needs to know about God, God’s purpose, God’s plan for reconciliation and no longer in parts, but in its entirety. God’s word is perfect in converting the soul:
Psalm 19:7
7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
A Difficult, but Necessary Conclusion: The World is Evil
We do not like to think of “the world” as evil, but God makes this distinction by saying He is at enmity with the world. You need to know because it is unwise to follow, to be conformed to the world. Essentially, it will cost you your soul if you not make this distinction.
Romans 12.1,2
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
God provides a continual warning about the world by pointing out the foolishness of the world. The wise of the world are all too often the ones we choose to follow. The warning is not to respect any person in relation to spiritual matters and God says, “let no one boast in men.” The world honors all sorts of philosophies that are attributed to men and women and finally the praise and boasting goes to them and it futile and exceedingly harmful to your success.
1 Corinthians 3.19-21
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”;
20 and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”
21 Therefore let no one boast in men.
Indeed the good news is that God in Christ is looking past your sins by the word of God, that is, the word of reconciliation and this is the one and only hope you have to succeed in life.
2 Corinthians 5.17-19
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,
19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
The warnings continue, but the message is the same as it was with Adam and Eve and down through history. Don’t let yourself be treated by the philosophy and deceit of humankind.
Colossians 2.8
8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.
The basic principles of the world are indeed your enemy and yet if you want to achieve heaven it is entirely possible. Demas was a Christian, but was overcome by the world and you think the world is not evil. Life is about the soul and this understanding will help you differentiate and be emotional (fearful) of losing out on the only thing that matters.
2 Timothy 4.10
10 for Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world
One keeps coming back to Jesus saying if you want to save your life you must lose it and the verses below from Titus points to the necessity of living in denial of the things of the world. It is not easy, life is difficult and nearly impossible if we live in regret of giving our life for Christ. God helps by pointing out the magnitude of the reward in relation to the sufferings of this present time.
Titus 2.11,12
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,
The reward is to be a partaker of the divine nature that you achieved by foregoing the lust that in the world.
2 Peter 1.2-4
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
We do not walk around saying we love the world, but if that is where our heart is then God cannot be there also. As always, you have choices and when you do the commands of God; You demonstrate your love for God.
1 John 2.15-17
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.
17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
Your life is over and there will be either tremendous, eternal joy beyond your comprehension or tremendous and eternal regret also beyond your comprehension. How can you know for certain the right path to take? If you care about truth, about heaven, you can know what you should do with 100% certainty, because that which is perfect has come and is available to you!
