Process To Heaven

john1613

OK, what do I have to do to get to heaven? How can I help others. I like the comparison to the airline instruction which says after the oxygen masks drop down due to a sudden loss of cabin pressure to first attach the mask to yourself and then help others like your children. This is also true spiritually, that if you want to help others you need to first take the appropriate actions to get yourself on the road to heaven. The most foolish thing a person can do is to resist God. God’s truth is before you and you resist God by looking around for someone who could not hear the message, like the person on the island all alone. This will be your excuse! Perhaps a person with some special physical ailment who cannot learn and obey the truth – anyone will do! You resist the message of God and it is just like when the oxygen mask falls down and the small child cannot reach the mask or understand what must be done. So therefore YOU do not put on the mask. The reason there are so many religions is because so many people have failed to do the right thing and usually because it was hard. They justify it to themselves and do not put on the mask and everyone suffers and false teaching flourishes.

Following The Instructions
That Come From God

Nothing is more serious, more tragic in its consequences than the false teaching regarding what you need to do to get on heaven’s road. We will clear up this issue in these pages and the associated references. It should be as easy as it was for Peter on the day of Pentecost after Christ’s death but men have made a mess of what God has made so simple. Thus to provide the truth often requires first overcoming all the error that people have accepted as truth. The verse above amounts to the only way you can go into judgment with boldness, with an assured confidence of heaven. It is exactly how we differentiate truth from error. That is by following the instructions that come from God and not what you think or some man teaches. The disciples of Jesus did not know what to do so Jesus told them He would send the Spirit of truth to guide them into all truth. The truth must come from God in spiritual matters if it has any value. The apostles were led into all truth beginning on the day of Pentecost following the death of Jesus. The truth from God would come down to us today beginning with that event and the subsequent events of the New Testament. God’s Holy Spirit would continue during the 1st century to confirm the word of God with signs and miracles. Certain men were to record God’s truth being inspired of God.
The following is from my book, What Is Life All About?” and is, “Chapter 44.2 The Truth In A Few Sentences” and following that is a link to a page at this site which is also from that book (Appendix 4 called, “Conversions Of The New Testament”). In that book there are many helps for people who have a strong desire for the truth. Some very basic error that shaped both Catholic and Protestant doctrine is addressed the link, “The Fall of Catholicism and Protestantism in One Simple Lesson.”

Chapter 44.2, The Truth In A Few Sentences

Jesus is the Savior in that through His death, God has established the means for man to be reconciled to Him.

1 John 2.2

2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

1 John 4.10

10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

An individual must hear or read the Word of God.
In order to become a Christian:

First Must

A person must believe that Jesus is God’s Son, the Savior, and that Jesus died, was buried and rose from the dead.

John 3.16

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

1 Corinthians 15.1-4

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand,
2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

Also Must

A person must repent. That is, change from a sinful to godly manner of life.

Luke 13.3

3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.

Things in your life that are sinful, you must stop. If you are sincere, they will stop. God will know if you are sincere. You need to correct things that you may have done “wronging” other persons. It may be that you are living in a sinful situation or need to make amends for some sinful thing that has benefited you or others. Your repentance needs to take care of such things.

Also Must

A person must confess Jesus before men as the Christ,
God’s Son.5

Romans 10.9,10

9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Lastly Must

A person must be baptized, that is, immersed in water for the forgiveness of past sins.

Mark 16.15,16

15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

Acts 2.38

38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

1 Peter 3.21

21 There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Now you are a child of God.

Galatians 3.26,27

26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

God is now your Father, and Jesus is your advocate.

1 John 2.1

1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

God (not man) adds you to the church of His Son following your obedience.

Acts 2.47

47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

At that point you become a child of God, a Christian, you have obeyed the truth, obeyed the Gospel. That is, you obeyed that form of doctrine that represents the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

1 Peter 1.22,23

22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit[a] in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,
23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,

Romans 6.17

17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.

1 Corinthians 15.1-4

(repeated for convenience from above)

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand,
2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

The process to heaven itself is quite simple and carries a one-to-one correlation with the death of Christ. It was God’s plan from the beginning and first spoke of in Genesis 3.15. Simple does not mean people will follow it because it requires changing your life. This is undoubtedly one of the primary reasons for all the false religious teaching – the plan of God does not suit me and there begin to be variations which change God’s plan. There are usually many questions, so one place to help some people will be a post called:
